𝗝𝗼𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀

“Beware the ides of March!” A Soothsayer said to Julius Caesar. Perhaps we would do well to also beware. The future of our country, even man’s existence may depend on what decisions are made in our world this month. History will record March 2022 as the beginning of the Russian invasion of the sovern country of the Ukraine. Will this be the beginning of a greater conflict? I prefer to think the horrors of war will discourage other countries to not further escalate?

What do we tell the children? Many parents want to shield their children from the cruel images of a war torn country. Evil cannot be hidden. Men, Women, and Children are being killed. What do we do our children ask?

To Change the channel, hide the remote, turn off the sound is not an answer. I choose to answer direct questions honestly yet with a positive spin. Everyone can help. Donate funds, send supplies, or reach out to rescue services who are working 24-7.

My Grandson informed me that his friends told him “the schools and hospitals were bombed”. There is no easy explanation when speaking with innocent children, about how all this happened or where it will lead us.

With my thirteen Grandchildren. I have tried to see through their eyes. Be prepared we were cautioned in our schools back during the Cold War. I remember the school drills advising us to seek shelter under our desk in the event of a nuclear attack. I recall the “Cuban Missile Crisi” and Gorbachev saying “we will bury you!” We survived because of our brave parents and national leaders.

We are still that land of the free because of the brave! . Our children need to be reassured. We are responsible for leading by example. If we are brave our children, our neighbors, and our communities will feel the strength and courage.

The Ukrainian people have been very courageous. Their brave ongoing resistance has been a surprise to all the experts. Can PEACE be possible?

Other countries are sending supplies and medical aid. AYF WARRIORS in the past have responded to emergencies by sending millions of meals, supplies, and aid to those in need. Our AYF leader Don Lapari has arranged for supplies to be sent to the Ukraine.

Many University students have established fund raisers to aid the Ukraine. Peace talks are ongoing. Be brave!

Over 200 AYF/AYC Leaders from across the country virtually attended the 2022 meeting on March 12, 2022. We heard from the National and Regional staffs as well as our partners and sponsors.

Spring has SPRUNG!!! This is extremely exciting as it means organization registrations are rolling out, team planning has begun, and more are in swing for the upcoming 2022 AYC/AYF season!!!

First, Congratulations to ALL of the AYC teams that participated in Globals down in Atlantic City, NJ at the Tropicana. AYC represented and took home 14 cheer titles, 3 dance, and 3 grand champ titles!! Impressive job!!

This past week we had an opportunity to speak with our uniform partner- Rebel Athletic. Michele Radon, the Director of Business Development, as well as multiple reps/designers, joined the call to educate many of our coaches and coordinators about what they have to offer to our teams.

As a reminder, Rebel Athletic is a ONE STOP SHOP offering bows, bags, shoes, uniforms and MORE. If you missed the zoom call, please find your Rebel rep contact information on our AYC Facebook page. Take the time to discuss with your rep your teams needs, wants, budget, etc. They will work with you!

Congratulations to all the coaches and coordinators who won several Rebel giveaways during the call. Be on the lookout for your prize if you won as they should be arriving within the next couple of weeks. Michele also announced on the Rebel Roundtable call that the Cheer Live Tour will be offering special AYC discounts. Again, info will be forwarded to your regional directors as well as posted on our AYC Facebook page.
