Qualifying for Nationals

American Youth Football has 8 conferences, they are the: Pacific, Desert Mountain, Mid-West, Southwest, Mid-East, Atlantic, Northeast and Southeast.

Regional tournaments are played in the weeks leading up to thanksgiving weekend with the regional championship Bowl games being played on thanksgiving weekend. Each region is responsible for scheduling their own regional tournament, dates therefore may vary accordingly.

The first place team in each age group in each regional bowl automatically qualify and receive a berth to play in the American Youth Football National Championship tournament.

For more information on your regional competition click here.

Divisions

There are two divisions of competition for football at the National Championships they are Divisions IA and Division IAA.  Division IA is the championship division. Division IAA is a playing division reserved exclusively for  teams from small rural areas and areas of diminutive population.

Your team must receive special permission to compete in Division IAA from the AYF football Commissioner.

If your team would otherwise be eligible to compete in Division IAA but your team chooses to participate in an AYF Sanctioned Regional Competition and competes against teams that are vying for a playoff berth in the championship division of the AYF National Championship tournament, your team therein forfeits its Division IAA eligibility.
